Carina Riezebos is a Dutch industrial designer who works with glass and crystal. She became interested in these materials at a young age, which led her to pursue a career in the arts.
After obtaining her bachelor’s degree at the Design Academy Eindhoven, Riezebos decided to enroll at the ArtEZ University of the Arts to further develop her knowledge of the artistic field.
In 1996, she started a one-man business in her own name, and since 2010, she has been selling her unique work under her label ‘CARINA’, which exudes luxury and individuality. Moreover, she is the art director for several companies, designers, and artists.
Bridging the gap between art and appliance is her philosophy, and the tension between an object’s function and its personal value is a recurring theme in her work. This results in high-quality, powerful, and extraordinary designs, delivered in an accessible and easy form. In addition, Riezebos is always on the lookout for challenges, innovations and new techniques that can help make an object more than just a utensil. Each of her products tells a unique story.
Thanks to her skills, craftsmanship, and vision, the renowned company Royal Leerdam Crystal noticed Riezebos and appointed her their first female head of design in 2009.
As an art director, she leads creative innovation and oversees product portfolio management. She strives to create added value for her customers by pursuing designs that combine beauty with practicality.
